In the last decade, the Internet has become the ubiquitious repository of human knowledge. Harnessed properly, the net can provide a huge impetus to the world of education by providing access to this vast knowledge store. The Capetown Open Declaration has come up with three core strategies which, if adopted on a wide scale will lead to seamless sharing and dissemination of information across the world. These involve educators themselves as well as mandating open educational resources and policy. It is hoped that this declaration is a step forward in ensuring that the Internet with its unparalleled capacity for knowledge storage, will evolve into a resource which is truly inclusive and correspondingly has leads to a more informed and educated world.
