Google's Gatekeepers

This news article investigates and draws out revelations for taking stock of Google's avatar as a gatekeeper and the implications for free speech on Internet as well as the increasingly pertinent question of regulation-by whom and how? In light of some of Google's executives unfettered power-role in the company’s decision-making process about what controversial user-generated content goes down or stays up on YouTube, search engines and other applications; the author urges there is less focus on how the Internet is actually regulated, and by whom. He raises the long persistent but highly relevant issue of whether corporations can be trusted with delivering public good while working towards their primary objective of increasing market presence.
