The BMC (Bombay Municipal Corporation) has told citizens that a crucial report cannot be disclosed, citing the ‘third party' exclusion clause. It had paid McKinsey 10 crores of public money to tell it how to improve its internal functioning. An activist then filed a petition under RTI to find out how the public money was being spent. The BMC readies itself to release the information when Mc Kinsey objects citing a 3rd party exclusion clause saying that the release of this information would harm its business interests. All parties are now ready to fight out the matter in the courts. This matter will be a watershed in the way RTI is perceived and implemented.
