A study conducted by the Open Net Initiative group seems to suggest that state led censorship of the internet is growing and will continue to grow. This comes in wake of the fact that the number of countries which resorted to censoring had gone up from a couple to around 25. The study also says that there has been an increase in the scope and sophistication of internet censoring with governments constantly looking to expanding control over cyber-space. While censorship maybe on the rise, there have also been measures to circumvent it by developing tools some of which are being developed by organisations like ONI itself.
