A move by German federal authorities to spy on the computers of suspected terrorists by deploying malicious e-mails on their computers has come in for sharp criticism. Members of the ruling opposition say that such measures infringes on privacy laws and is a retrograde step. Media reports claim that the e-mails could be generated from different official intelligence agencies raising issues of transparency and protection of public interest. However because of the recent expose of a potential terrorist plot in Germany, it will be very interesting to see how the debate on this issue develops.
