The European Commission (EC) has held a long-running investigation into Microsoft's operating procedures, which had led to the EC imposing a huge fine on the company last year after holding it guilty of breaking European Union (EU) antitrust laws. This exercise was expected to close the Microsoft chapter within the EU. However, the launching of two new inquiries into Microsoft's practices after complaints about software bundling and interoperability shows that Microsoft's troubles with the EU's anti-competition laws are far from over
