The International Open Source Network (IOSN) is a Centre of Excellence for FOSS in the Asia-Pacific Region. It shapes its activities around Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) technologies and applications. The portal gives access to local and remote documents as well as to websites which are hosting the most popular and useful FOSS software packages in UNESCO’s fields of competence, notably the public sector, higher education and research.

The ultimate goal of the Social Source Commons (SSC) is to create a "knowledge commons" that maps the NPO/NGO software space and makes sense of the collective expertise related to that software. It aims to provide those who need information on NPO/NGO software access to lists of what's available, with each list item linked to relevant documentation, localisation tools, services and events, user reviews and a place to request the tools and features they can't find.

The Tactical Technology Collective (Tactical Tech) aims to strengthen social technology movements and networks in developing and transition countries, as well as promote civil society's effective, conscious and creative use of new technologies. By building links, Tactical Tech aims to help establish an accessible baseline of ICTs needed by all civil society organisations and their integration beyond rudimentary usage into an integrated strategic tool for planning, advocacy & campaigning. This is done through organising workshops; bringing together grassroots ICT advisers (eRiders) and social software developers with NGOs and activists; creating materials, guides and products (like 'NGO-in-a-Box') that promote and make accessible the use of low-cost/do-it-yourself technology and free and open-source software; building community based technology expertise and consultancy to strengthen civil-society organisations; and through cross networking this cooperation across regions.
